iPad apps for children spec. needs

Hello everybody!

We have just bought an iPad2 for our daughter and we are very excited to find out how many applications are available for children and for children with special needs.

I have a long list of them and I need to choose a good one for her as she doesn't use her "Talk Express 32" anymore, but she will use iPad and her communication book instead.

Is there any parent with experience in this matter? Are you using iPad for your child communication?

It will be nice if you could share your experiance.... :flowers: :flowers:

Hi Marion, have you got an iPad2 for your daughter? The teacher today suggested me a beautiful apps with an interactive book... my kids love it! What about you? :)

Hi Elisa, sorry for my late reply...we had a busy time and somehow I have always a problem signing in....I suppose to many password and usernames and I loose track. No, we have not yet an ipad!!! Is Benedetta using is well. Was she using the Go Talk 32 successfully? For Nathalie this machine would have to many signs and she would just push without thinking.Alexandra would like to have one in the house.

I try to be more reliable from now on...wrote down all this pass word etc....

Hi Marion, nice to hear from you! :flowers:

Benedetta is using iPad very well. At the moment she is using it for simple activities like colouring, listening stories, matching activities, writing using finger, ecc... there are many apps about these activities and she enjoys them a lot. :w00t: :w00t:

I still have to buy the apps regarding communication as, firstly, I wanted for her to learn how the touch screen was working and definitely now she knows. :cool:

She wasn't using Go Talk 32 a lot as by the time I had all the pictures that I needed, it was almost time to return it. In addition, we went to Italy during Easter holidays and we didn't bring it with us (too big to carry for travelling :ermm: ).

Now we carry iPad everywhere: she uses it at school, in the car or when she is waiting for her siblings sport activities... she was never interested in reading books and sometimes she was annoyed, now she always has something to do. :sorcerer:

Not mention that my other kids love it! :wub:

Marion, just forgot to say that I know other kids that would find iPad too difficult to use. Something that is good for one, doesn't mean to be as good for another one too.

I was hoping that it could help Natalie as well Benedetta :wub: :wub:

I think I have to try with Nathalie. I am very happy to hear that Bernedetta is using it with success, not to talk about her siblings. :rolleyes:
